On a similar note, it's well worth avoiding PoE trade currency the 'favorite' classes. Part of the reason I managed to poe currency win 2 Demis in precisely the same race was since I picked two fairly unpopular courses--I didn't need to compete against teams, also that I managed to move up the ladder quickly.

This is a fact. If you are going to compete in Softcore or standard Hardcore, you'll require a team, or you automatically lose the top couple slots of each class. A group typically includes four Path of Exile gamers--two damage dealers, one supplying auras, and yet another Path of Exile player cursing the enemies. A group of four will progress at speeds considerably faster than any Royal Path of Exile participant ever could.

To put this in perspective, at the Turmoil Hardcore race that the top team consisted of three streamers--Zizaran, Nugiyen, and Havoc--as well as a fourth individual who did not steam. At the end of day one, Nugiyen and Havoc both died, in places two and three to the ladder, at level 88. At the conclusion of day two, they had shot beyond all the other racers, and were at positions two and one. This is only because they did not cease, kept playing, and, obviously, had a fantastic team to help them on the way.

They hit level 100 after a couple of days, and proceeded to buy poe orbs level up second characters to 100. Only 19 characters hit degree 100, and these guys were able to do it twice thanks to getting a terrific team.
